Richard Chilongosi is a public health professional, with over 15 years of experience in the HIV sector in Malawi. Richard currently works with Population Services International (PSI) Malawi as the Acting Head of HIV. In his capacity as Head of HIV, Richard is a technical lead for PSI Malawi’s biomedical and non-biomedical HIV prevention interventions (VMMC, condom programming, HTS/HIVST and treatment literacy initiatives). He has facilitated market entry for HIVST products through evidence generation and strategic engagements with key national stakeholders in Malawi. Additionally he has supported HIV rapid test quality improvement initiatives, supported strategy development for HIV case finding including Voluntary Assisted Partner Notification (VAPN), and supported health systems strengthening initiatives for effective delivery of HIV response activities. Under the Blantyre Prevention Strategy (BPS) project, Richard is the PSI in-country program lead responsible for bringing community preferences into demand, delivery and messaging for HIV prevention interventions building Blantyre district capabilities to implement and coordinate an effective demand creation strategy for HIV prevention interventions.
Richard has in-depth knowledge of global and national policies and guidelines related to HIV, as well as donor regulations around program/financial management, reporting, monitoring, and evaluation.
