On Monday, November 9, President-Elect Biden announced the 13 members of his coronavirus task force, with two Georgetown CIGH Affiliates among their ranks. Dr. Rebecca Katz is a Professor and the Director of the Center for Global Health Science and Security at Georgetown University Medical Center. Her Center conducts original research to help decision-makers prevent, detect, and respond to public health emergencies and has contributed substantially to the national COVID-19 response, launching the COVID-19 Frontline Guide in March. Dr. Eric Goosby is a Distinguished Professor of Medicine and Director of the Center for Global Health Delivery and Diplomacy at the University of California, San Francisco. He was the founding director of the federal government’s Ryan White HIV/AIDS program, served as U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator in the U.S. Department of State, and has played a critical role in San Francisco’s COVID-19 response. Both Drs. Katz and Goosby, along with the three co-Chairs of the committee, Drs. Vivek Murthy, Marcella Nunez-Smith, and David Kessler, and others, bring years of global health security and diplomacy experience and will be invaluable in fighting the pandemic and saving American lives.
