CIGH at AIDS 2023

As part of the International AIDS Society’s annual conference, CIGH hosted a satellite session, “District-based HIV prevention: Defining the functions of a coherent & sustainable response,” highlighting the Blantyre Prevention Strategy’s unique approach to building a more effective, district-led health system that brings cohesion to an otherwise fragmented HIV prevention landscape and systematically strengthens local leadership.

The session, which took place onsite in Brisbane, Australia, was co-chaired by CIGH’s Sara Allinder and Blantyre District Health Office’s Dr. Gift Kawalazira and featured speakers from the Government of Malawi at district and national levels, BPS partners, and CIGH’s Dr. Charles Holmes who shared key learnings from three years of implementation and the ways in which it’s expanding capabilities across the prevention cascade.
